HANDMADE LEATHER DOG COLLAR WITH COTTON

These beautiful dog collars are from Santo Tomas Jalieza that is a population of the state of Oaxaca whose distinctive feature is the talent of both, men and women in textiles. His people preserve the tradition of the use of the waist loom, a prehispanic system for weaving, which consists of a leather strap and rope that is placed on the lower back and waist of the craftsman.

With the help of this they elaborate their fabrics made with cotton thread and with natural dyes such as indigo, huizache, pomegranate, aloe and melissa plant that give life to the pieces that are meticulously woven and that gradually shape colourful symbols, friezes, dancers, deer, cacaloxúchitl flowers, pineapple flower, owls, dogs and an infinite number of other forms, many of which have meanings that date back to pre-Hispanic times.

A portion of the proceeds from every dog collar sold is donated to nonprofits in Texas.

SIZE GUIDE: Measure the place on your dog's neck where a collar will comfortably fit. Adjustable indicates the tightest setting to the loosest setting for each collar. The width of the collar also scales with the size. For a wider, more prominent collar, choose a larger size that will fit on a tighter setting. Every collar has slight variations in size, appearance, and color due to their handmade nature.

COLLAR CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS: For light washing, spot clean or rinse in cold water and dry out of the sun. For more thorough cleaning, hand wash using a gentle soap and cold water and dry out of the sun. Saddle soap can be used on the leather.
